“Although we are increasing the budget for health care by about 15 per cent over the next three years, we still have challenges in the system,” said Falcon. “To date, through the Organisation of services shared, we could save U.S. $ 115.5 million. By using this innovative model of shopping and take advantage of our purchasing power of provinces, we are able to put those savings back into the system health for patients to go to primary care. “

The contract includes software and related services in support of six health authorities in British Columbia. The short term six years until 2016, and replaces the previous contract, which expired in 2012. By working with Microsoft, SSO has saved approximately 34 million dollars over six years.

The contract includes all Microsoft products currently used by health authorities, or any other, which should be used during the next six years. The new prices are also now able to extend health care affiliated nonprofit is funded in whole or in part by the health authorities of the province.

In addition, SSO will now be able to move software licenses used between the health authorities. Under the previous contract, if a health authority who require additional services, which would buy a new license, even if we had a different health authority.

“SSO is one example of how health officials are working to reduce administration costs and acquisition, unless the health care system of precious funds,” said Lynda Cranston, Chair and President and Chief Executive SSO Provincial Services Health Authority.

“Microsoft is proud to partner with British Columbia, through the SSO, to create a platform to provide innovative solutions to health care for residents of British Columbia,” said Eric blows Wind, president of Microsoft Canada. “Sustainability, affordability and quality of care are the cornerstones of service delivery in health and this partnership will enable and support the province in all three areas, while offering significant savings and future. “

The services of the SSO to exercise due diligence and determined that Microsoft was the only supplier capable of providing necessary services in a cost effective manner. The proposed contract was reviewed and approved by the Director of Information of the Province of British Columbia.

Previously announced contracts negotiated by the SSO include providing home oxygen, cardiac, renal dialysis and operating room supplies to health authorities. The total estimated cumulative savings of the SSO first five years of operation (until March 2014) will be $ 181 million, exceeding $ 150 million savings originally identified by the SSO.

The SSO has been responsible for the supply chain for the six health authorities in February 2009. It combines the buying power of health authorities in the province by the merger of the procurement process for several contracts with large quantities of standardized products. The key to their business process approach increases efficiency, standardization, capital flight and the combined purchasing power of its members.

VICTORIA – Effective today, specialists in British Columbia are eligible for the new rates and support to improve access and service to patients and increase the efficiency and capacity of physicians.

The new media initiatives of the Commission of specialized services (HSS), a joint committee of the province and the British Columbia Medical Association (BCMA), which works closely with health authorities to provide specialized medical services for British Columbia. With a mandate to support and improve the system of specialized care, the committee will receive a total of $ 45 million in 2011-12 to support its policies and programs.

“The CDC initiatives are another example of the work we do in collaboration with the BCMA to improve patient care throughout the province,” said Health Minister Kevin Falcon. “Since 2004, we invested approximately $ 100 billion through the General Services Committee of practice to support health services provided by family physicians, and evaluations have shown that our investment has paid off with greater satisfaction for patients and physicians. We expect similar positive results for the care of British Columbia expert systems, including greater collaboration between medical specialists and general practitioners. “

Designed to strengthen the capacity of professionals and improving patient access to specialist, the specialist Service Commission made a number of billing options that were unavailable in the previous billing system . It is expected that changes will result in reduced overall system costs and provide health benefits for patients and doctors by reducing emergency room visits, and unnecessary or inappropriate referrals. Other benefits that are intended to increase work satisfaction for specialists and stress reduction in a doctor’s office assistants (MOA).

“The doctors of British Columbia We are looking forward to the successful long-term initiatives of South-South”, said Dr Brian Brodie, president of the British Columbia Medical Association. “These new initiatives will help support the essential communication between specialists and generalists, and coordinate the care of their patients. We must find ways to improve access to specialty care and improving the overall quality of services being. “

Under the new incentives, will receive 60 million of medical specialists to provide immediate advice to another specialist or general practitioner. Specialists can check this “medical advice medical emergency telephone help doctors begin within two hours.

The “physician responsibility for patient management advice ‘from $ 40 to use when a doctor needs advice on the care of a patient. Experts can charge these fees to help the doctor to start phone within seven days. The $ 20 ‘online patient telephone follow-up rate is for the experts who provided follow-up visits by telephone with their own patients in situations that do not require face to face visit. Doctors have to follow pre-programmed with the patient to collect the tax.

Specialists are also now able to charge for visits pre-and post-operative, which were included in the surgical costs. visits eligible include: pre-operative visits in the office or hospital visits in the post-operative office visits and post-operative hospital after 14 days. These new rates will allow for greater interaction between patients and specialists in both pre-and post-operative, which could reduce the risk of complications.

Initiatives of South-South cooperation and will provide experts in their Memorandum of Understanding to participate in training programs that were previously only available to GPs and their MOU. The specialized training program will focus on office efficiency, group visits and access to advanced, focusing on the programming of patients. This program is part of the general practice of the program committee support service practice, which has the overall objective to improve provider satisfaction and patient access to quality care.

As the Practice Committee of General Services, the CDC uses the guidelines of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, an independent, nonprofit, helping to lead to improved health care around the world to guide current and future policies, processes and programs. The three guiding principles of the two committees are: improving the health of the population, improve the patient experience and medical care and to reduce or control the per capita cost of care.

The CDC is also exploring options for the recruitment and retention of medical specialists and facilities to support care of patients with complex or chronic diseases. In addition, physicians will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of proposed health authority has been directed to redesign health systems.

Sexual health is influenced by a great many factors ranging from behavior, attitudes, and conditioning, to biological and genetic factors. It encompasses the problems of HIV, unintended pregnancy and abortion, infertility and sexual dysfunction. Sexual health can also be influenced by mental health, acute and chronic illnesses, and violence.

It also involves the individual, family, community, health system level legal and regulatory environments where the sexual rights of all people are upheld.

Ideas and norms about sexuality and health come from a variety of sources including social custom, science, medicine, religious belief, and personal experiences. As a result, no one definition of sexual health is likely to adequately represent this diversity, especially when professional opinions on sexuality and sexual health are formed by training and social position which in turn, are often influenced by the individual’s culture, socio-economic status, religion, etc.

Because the words “health” and “healthy” are often linked to the field of medicine, they carry a medical connotation and authority. The World Health Organization says…

“Sexual health is…the integration of the physical, emotional, intellectual and social aspects of sexual being, in ways that are positively enriching and that enhance personality, communication and love.”

“…a capacity to enjoy and control sexual and reproductive behavior in accordance with a social and personal ethic.”

“…freedom from fear, shame, guilt, false beliefs and other psychological factors inhibiting sexual response and impairing sexual relationships.”

“…freedom from organic disorders, diseases and deficiencies that interfere with sexual and reproductive function.”

Good sexual health means making sure you have the knowledge, skills and ability to make informed sexual choices and acting responsibly to protect your health and the health of others.
